An art and design house

The Artemist Consultancy.

Site-specific art programmes for hotels, offices and homes. We design, commission and curate — from concept to handover, alongside your architect and interior designer.

What we do

The flagship of the practice.

The Consultancy works with properties at every scale — from a single anchor commission for a private residence to a full-property art programme for a hotel. The shape of an engagement depends on the project. A single lobby anchor and a full-property programme are different conversations.

How an engagement runs

Five stages. Phasing is confirmed at proposal.

A ninety-day check-in follows handover. Maintenance documentation is provided.

01

Brief & site.

We walk the property — physically where geography allows, virtually where it doesn't.

02

Concept.

A moodboard and zone-by-zone direction, developed in one to two weeks.

03

Proposal.

A written scope. Zone breakdown, anchor and supporting works specified, timeline, payment milestones — what's included and what isn't.

04

Production.

Six weeks to six months in the studio or with the commissioned artist, depending on the work.

05

Handover & installation guidance.

Finished works delivered to site. Installation is carried out by your on-site team, with specifications and on-call support from ours.

How we work with the team

We're additive, not replacement. The architect designs the building. The interior designer composes the rooms. We compose the art that lives inside them.

When commissions go beyond what our studio makes — a senior voice, a specific medium — we source them through our network of galleries, consultants and artists across India.

Every commission is briefed, managed and accountable through us. One contract. One point of contact.

Engagement structure

Every engagement on a retainership.

Both terms are confirmed in writing before any work begins.

The retainer

Covers art direction, scoping, project management, studio oversight and ongoing access to the team across the project's lifecycle. The retainer is credited against the project's total billing. Commissioned works, production and installation guidance are quoted and billed separately at scope.

Site visits

Within India and internationally, billed on actuals. Travel, accommodation and time on site are passed through at cost, confirmed in the proposal.

The team

Led by Aradhana Dalmia as principal. Senior art consultants carry projects day to day.

Creative direction, senior client relationships, sign-off on every proposal — all carried by Aradhana.

A team of senior art consultants carries the projects day to day — qualification, scoping, proposal drafting, site supervision and client communications. The studio sits behind them.

Questions

Common questions.

What does The Artemist Consultancy do?

End-to-end art programmes for hotels, offices and homes. We plan, commission, source, frame and install across a property — from concept to handover — alongside your architect and interior designer.

How early should we bring you in?

As early as the interior scheme is taking shape, so work can be commissioned and sized to the architecture rather than bought off the shelf at the end.

Do you work outside Kolkata?

Yes. We are based in Kolkata and work on projects across India, shipping and installing pan-India.

How long does a programme take?

A concept direction comes within one to two weeks; production runs from about six weeks to six months depending on the work and the scale, worked back from your handover date.

Do you commission new work or source existing pieces?

Both — from our in-house studio and from established and upcoming Indian artists, with sourced works where they are the right fit. Most programmes are a mix.

How do we start?

Send the brief — the spaces, plans, a budget envelope and your timeline. We reply within two working days.
